The White Room

You find that your life is changing in confusing, unexpected ways. Lifelong friends suddenly shun you. Your successful business suddenly nose dives. It’s as if an invisible hand has switched channels in your life and nothing is familiar or comforting.

You reach out for help. You go to meet them. The man is warm and friendly, comforting and concerned. He wants to help, so you get in his car. Now you’re going to get answers. Now your life will return to normal.

 
But now your fear rises. He’s not taking you to where you thought you were going. He parks in front of a nondescript building. He unlocks the door and holds it open for you. Beckoning. You mind, your spirit, your soul says no, but you go anyway.

 
He leads you to a room. It’s bare. There is a table and two chairs. A security camera is up in one corner. There are no windows. You know what this is. You recognize the machine on the table. It will tell him you’re lying when he asks questions. “Fine”, you think. You want the truth too.
In a calm, disconnected tone he starts to recite things about your life. You have been asking too many questions lately. You’ve been talking to the wrong people. He has emails, phone records even Facebook comments. People have been watching you. They reported you.   Some of the names he lists are familiar, some are strangers. How in the hell did get all this? You look up at the camera. Of course, everything is recorded somewhere.

 
As he drones on, you defend yourself. You are a Good Person. You do Good Things. You want to be back in Good Graces. You’re willing to atone. The man will have none of this. This is just procedure. These are the facts. This is what you have done and you are being judged.
All you wanted was to know.
All you wanted to do is learn.
He explains this is wrong.

 
How the Hell is this wrong? You want names. Who has done this to you? Where is the proof? The man says he has all that in his office. You don’t need to see any of that. This is procedure. This meeting is to inform you that you have been judged and found lacking. You are declared subversive to the Group.

 
The blood drains from your head. You fully realize what will happen. Your suspicions are confirmed. You have been shunned. You will lose your family, your property, your livelihood. Your LIFE. You won’t be killed. No, much worse. They will take from you everything that makes Life worth living. You have seen this happen to others. Some were driven to suicide. Some just disappeared.

 
You are going to lose everything because you’ve have been asking too many questions. You’ve been talking to the wrong people. You have been thinking wrong thoughts.

MAYBE YOU’VE RECOGNIZED THE STORY. MAYBE YOU’VE KNOWN ABOUT THIS AND DISMISSED IT AS LUNACY. I KNOW I HAD. BUT I WRITE THIS TODAY AS A CALL TO ACTION. IF YOU KNOW OF THE SHUNNED, REACH OUT TO THEM FOR THEY TRULY NEED YOUR HELP AS THEY REBUILD THEIR LIVES AND HAPPINESS. APPLAUD THEIR COURAGE. RECOGNIZE THEIR STRENGTH AND YOUR WEAKNESS FOR I TRULY BELIEVE FEW OF US HAVE THE SHEER GUTS TO DO WHAT THEY HAVE DONE.

I HAVE THOUGHT LONG AND HARD ABOUT POSTING THIS. THIS ACTION MAY CHANGE MY LIFE IN A BAD WAY. MY TIPPING POINT WAS LEARNING THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MY FRIEND. IF YOU TRULY KNOW ME YOU KNOW IT’S BAD TO FUCK WITH MY FRIENDS.
