On July 27, 2016, Mark Watkins and his Dad headed out for a fishing trip. 25 Thirty miles off of Bunbury, Australia, they spotted what they at first thought was a capsized boat or even a downed balloon.
On closer inspection and taking in the noxious smell, Watkins saw that the mystery object was a bloated whale. Beached whales are known to bloat as they decompose but it is rare to find one at sea that is yet to explode. After taking a few pictures, the fishermen hauled ass lest they be showered with whale guts.
White sharks were seen feeding on the carcass. Research has shown that floating whale carcasses are a White Shark singles bar. After feeding their fill, the sharks are docile enough for mating to occur. When Watkins returned, the sharks had deflated the whale.
The species of the whale was not officially identified, but the texture of its belly suggests it was most likely a humpback or southern right whale(Mother Nature Network).

25 December, Marina California-A sperm whale has been found washed ashore dead.
On 25 December, a sperm whale was found dead on Marina State Beach, Marina, California. Known to friends and family as Frank, he had been complaining about indigestion and “stomach problems” for a couple weeks before being found dead just outside of his home.
“He was really sick and was trying to use home remedies and over the counter stuff”, said Annette Marley, a friend.
“He really need to see a doctor. But we couldn’t convince him to go.”
Frank had been trying to sign up for Obamacare since November and was unable to.
“He tried to sign up online but the website wouldn’t work. When he finally got someone on the phone they first said he had a bad internet connection and then said he was using the wrong browser.”, Ms. Marley went on to say.
Memorial services will be held 31 December at 3pm at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. In lieu of flowers, it requested that donations of cash or money orders be made here.
