It started with couple of states. Then Fifteen. Then twenty and thirty. Now 47 seven states have petitions to succeed from the Union. No Virginia, there’s no petition.
What people are doing is leaving their names and desires to succeed on the White House website. WE the PEOPLE–Your VOICE in our government is a subpage of whitehouse.gov. IT”S rule is that if you submit an issue and get 25,000 people to sign your petition, the administration will “consider it”. How Progressive! We can now petition the President just like you petition a king.
What started right after the election was someone suggesting Texas should be given permission to succeed. The petition looks like this:

Peacefully grant the State of Texas to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government.
The US continues to suffer economic difficulties stemming from the federal government’s neglect to reform domestic and foreign spending. The citizens of the US suffer from blatant abuses of their rights such as the NDAA, the TSA, etc. Given that the state of Texas maintains a balanced budget and is the 15th largest economy in the world, it is practically feasible for Texas to withdraw from the union, and to do so would protect it’s citizens’ standard of living and re-secure their rights and liberties in accordance with the original ideas and beliefs of our founding fathers which are no longer being reflected by the federal government.

Folks in other states have filed similarly worded petitions. Do they even teach government in school anymore? There is no provision to petition the government in this way. The way it was done the last time was that State legislatures debated secession and then citizens of the state voted for or against secession. There no petitioning of the Federal government. The states decided, gave Washington the finger and fucking left. Bu Bye. See you at Bull Run.
DO NOT SIGN THESE PETITIONS!!!! You are putting your name on a list that goes right to the White House. You are identifying yourself as an opponent of the Government and leaves you vulnerable to prosecution under the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798 for treason. You can be put to death. It’s the last federal law on the books that carries the death penalty
You might be asking, “So what if I sign a petition. It’s my right as an American. ” Really? In Germany, the Holocaust started when the Jews were asked to peacefully place their names on a list. That really worked out well for them. Do you really think that no one at the White House is noting the names on these petitions? Do you remember Nixon’s “Enemies List”?
If you looked at the Texan petition, you might say that there are no last names. Look again Sports Fan. You need to create an account to submit your signature to the petition. First name, last name, email address and your zip code. For Christ sake! How much do you think the government needs to be able to find you?
