Jody Calls

In World War Two, “Jody” was the guy back home who was keeping company with your girl.  Marching cadences have been around for a long time.  I can easily picture a Roman Centurion belting one out to keep the march in line.  Since 1945 they’ve been evolving.

Here’s one from the movie “Battleground” from 1949.

Something About the Navy Yard Shooting that You Should Know

We have now had two mass shootings at military installations.  We now know that a lunatic whose name will not be mentioned here murdered 13 people before he was put down.

Did you get that?  The Marine said to his Dad, “We were trained and if we had ammunition, we would have cleared that building.”    The Marine Corps Barracks, Washington D.C. is the Headquarters for the Corps.  It is located an eight minute drive from the Naval Yard.  Faster if you run the lights.

Thank you President Clinton.   In 1993, Clinton declared military installations “Gun Free Zones”.  It banned military personnel from carrying their personal weapons as well as weapons they were issued.  Only in regions that have been designated that a “credible and specific threat towards military personnel”  exists can soldiers carry weapons with bullets in them.

I remember being stationed in Germany in the 1980’s and standing in line at the bank.  No biggie, except every now and then the person ahead of me would have a M-16 machine gun slung over their shoulder.  This was also no big deal.

On a “business trip” to Israel, I noted that the Israeli soldiers took their Uzis everywhere.  Even to the swimming pool.  Our bus driver Uri asked where our weapons were and I said we had them locked up.  He said that was a stupid idea.

Israeli soldiers with their weapons.

What do you think?  Should our soldiers, sailors, Marines and airmen be allowed to defend their own bases?

Back in 1993, the Clinton administration virtually declared military establishments “gun-free zones.” As a result, the policy banned “military personnel from carrying their own personal firearms and mandates that ‘a credible and specific threat against [Department of the Army] personnel [exist] in that region” before military personnel ‘may be authorized to carry firearms for personal protection.” Indeed, most military bases have relatively few military police as they are in heavy demand to serve in Iraq and Afghanistan,” – See more at: http://cnsnews.com/mrctv-blog/matt-vespa/if-we-had-ammunition-we-could-ve-cleared-building-son-navy-yard-told-dad#sthash.dOj8mEXV.dpuf
